A Graduation Trip to Remember: One Family's Journey Through Athens, Naxos & Santorini

Some milestones deserve more than a party — they deserve a passport stamp. When one of our clients came to us to celebrate their daughter's high school graduation, they didn't just want a vacation. All their graduate wanted was to see the iconic white and blue villages of Santorini in person — so we turned that wish into a nine-day family trip across Greece, gathering the whole family — parents and three adult children — before everyone scatters into their next chapters.

We built them a journey through three of Greece's most iconic destinations: Athens, Naxos, and Santorini. Here's how it went, straight from the family.

Athens: The Perfect Introduction

The trip kicked off with a single night in Athens, timed around a welcome dinner and an evening culinary walk through the city's historic Plaka neighborhood. It was intentionally short and sweet — just enough time to soak in the Acropolis, wander cobblestone lanes, and sample real Athenian food culture without feeling rushed before heading to the islands.

"The first night in Athens with the food tour was great. Just enough time there and really saw all of Athens in that time frame."

Naxos: The Family Favorite

From Athens, the family flew to Naxos, the largest and greenest island in the Cyclades, for three nights at a beautiful beachfront resort. This is where the trip really found its rhythm — relaxed mornings, a private e-bike adventure through olive groves and citrus valleys, a semi-private catamaran cruise around the small Cyclades, and dinners at local favorites along the way.

"The whole family really enjoyed the time on Naxos and the e-bike tour. It was a beautiful resort and the staff were so friendly. Food was fabulous everywhere."

Naxos is often overshadowed by its flashier neighbors, but for families looking for an authentic, laid-back island base with incredible natural beauty, it's hard to beat.

Santorini: Adventure Meets Iconic Views

No Greek island trip is complete without Santorini, and the family closed out their journey with three nights taking in the caldera views from a traditional cave house in Oia. Beyond the postcard sunsets, they packed in real adventure: a private horseback ride along the black sand shores of Eros Beach, and — added on the fly — a catamaran tour that same day.

"We were able to book a catamaran tour on Santorini the day of our horseback riding excursion, which was a lot of fun."

The trip wrapped with a private cooking and tastings experience, learning to prepare classic Santorinian dishes like fava dips and tomato fritters alongside a local wine tasting.

"Ending at the winery with the cooking class was a blast."
